Russia: US, NATO actions mean new arms are needed

No need to panic, at least not in the short run. We still have a 6 to 1 superiority in kill ratio on anything the Russians have to offer - land, sea and air. However, if we keep cutting our budgets on R&D (not necessarily production), we'd be in a world of hurt in a few years. They may have the quantity, but that's no quality - the road from Kuwait to Baghdad, replete with destroyed armor post the first Gulf war should be a good reminder.

Nonetheless, like Dr. Brzezinski stated, Russia has to come and join the 21st century. She can't be isolationist, take the same old stance of a third-rate country that's not willing to engage with the challenges that are faced by the world collectively. This isolationism, combined with renewed sense of xenophobia could lead to another costly brinkmanship, which neither the US or Russia can afford.
